Testimony : It's always exciting to hear the story of someone who used to be a thief or a drug dealer, until they heard the Gospel, and now they have committed their life to Christ. My story, while much less exciting to hear, is much more common. I share it with the hope that if your story is similar to mine, you will know that it is possible for anyone to come to Jesus and be saved........even if they've gone to church all their life!

I grew up going to church, and at the age of 12, I heard the Gospel at Vacation Bible School. I remember thinking that what I had heard made sense, and so I accepted the invitation to come forward. I prayed a prayer, got dunked in some water, and spent the next decade or so thinking I had been saved. During those ten years, I drifted in and out of church, read no Scripture at all, and lived however I wanted..........but if you had asked me if I was on my way to heaven you would have heard an emphatic "Yes!"

In my early twenties, my wife and I started going to church because that's what you do when you have kids. It was there that I met a sweet pastor who, by sharing the truth of Scripture, taught me that real salvation comes with a changed life and a relationship with Jesus. I hadn't seen either of these, which got me thinking about things. I came to realize that I didn't really know anything about what I claimed to believe, nor could I explain why Jesus had to die for my sins. Then it hit me - These aren't the traits of a real Christian. I had been on the outside looking in for all those years.

That was the bad news, but there was plenty of good news too. Thankfully, as long as we're still breathing, we still have the opportunity to accept God's gift of salvation by putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. I did, and I finally saw the change that comes from truly giving my life to Him!

Here's the really good news. If you're reading this, you still have time to do what I did. Take the advice of Jesus and "Consider your way." If you are confident that you understand the true Gospel, and know that you have accepted it and have given your life to Jesus, congratulations! You're in! If there's any doubt in your mind, I urge you to get this settled today. If you need to talk to someone, you can get in touch with me. If you're sure you understand the true Gospel, you can go straight to Jesus right now and say that you believe He is the Son of God, that you realize you have sinned against God, that you would like to be forgiven for those sins, and that you know Jesus is the only One who can do that for you. Ask for forgiveness and give your life to Him. Then, and only then, can you be sure that you will spend forever in heaven instead of hell.

This is how to be saved, and it's the same whether you're a thief, or a drug dealer, or a church attending Sunday School teacher like I was. Consider your way. I did!

Family : I've been married to my beautiful wife, Dana for 23 years, and we have two daughters and two granddaughters.

Favorite Verse : Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2 I know me, and I know what I've done. Therefore, it constantly amazes me that God has seen fit to provide a way for me to be at peace with Him. Without God's grace, provided through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, there would be no reason to "rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
